Income-Generating ProjectsOne of our most recent projects, we fund certain trade items like sewing machines and a horse and buggy that individuals can use on a regular basis so that they can be self-sustaining for themselves and their families. Providing just one item like a sewing machine can help many different women become self-sustaining for their families when going back to school as an older adult isn’t really an option, but certainly is for their children. Unfortunately many parents take their children out of school so they can help sell tortillas or other items in order to support the family, but with trade items being provided, this would not have to happen.

Medical Visit CouponWe have partnered with the Alabama Clinic in Nicaragua, which produces medical coupons for children and their families visiting the clinic for the cost of $3, a coupon. This coupon pays for the cost of the visit itself as well as any medications needed.

Residential ProjectsWe have partnered with a Nicaraguan organization called La Casa de La Mujer, where Mano en Mano puts up part of the money to rebuild a home and Casa de la Mujer puts the rest of the money together for building. Before rebuilding, these homes are usually barely standing and put together with scraps of rusty metal and wood, with mud floors. These homes are particularly difficult to live in considering Nicaragua’s tropical climate and constant rainfall with leaks coming in through the roof and seeping into the muddy floors. After rebuilding, these houses are built with a tall concrete foundation, walls, and a leak-free roof.

Sponsoring FamiliesFor those families that are in need of nutrition, we offer sponsorships of the entire family for supplying meals. This is especially important for single working mothers that have children they are trying to support on their own.
|
|
Sponsoring Children in Trade SchoolFor those students that wish to further their educational experience in a specific field such as mechanics, computer engineering, or the tourism industry, we send them to trade school where they can learn valuable tools that will allow them to get a job after their training to support themselves and their families.

Sponsoring Children in SchoolFor just $65 a year you can sponsor a child that has been selected based on their high level of need, their potential for success in school, and their level of determination.

Feeding the Hungry at Sara MoraSara Mora is a school with 271 students and their teachers that previously were relying on government aid for nutrition. Unfortunately, this need was rarely provided and could not be relied on. Therefore, we now provide meals twice a day for the students and their teachers, which is also a great incentive for students to attend school knowing they will be fed. |

Feeding the Hungry at Elsa HeadElsa Head is a school with 245 students and their teachers that were previously relying on government aid for nutrition. Feeding the Hungry at Huerta PazIn the past we provided a kitchen remodel for the school as well as provided meals twice a day, six times a week for students and teachers. Previously, students were receiving a "cereal" that contained unsafe water which was making many students ill. Additionally, this lack of protein was leading to risk of malnourishment. Therefore, Mano en Mano provided new meals in order to encourage the children to attend school as well as receive a sufficient amount of protein in their diet. |

Mano en Mano and Baylor Dental StudentsMano en Mano, in conjunction with Christian Medical Missions, provided financial and logistical support to 10 Dental students from Baylor College of Medicine - Dallas, Texas and Dr. Wayne Radwanski of Austin, Texas. This enabled them to provide basic dental services for approximately 395 people. |

Mano en Mano Cistern ProjectMano en Mano Foundation procured funds to enlarge and repair a water cistern for the nuns of the order of Mother Teresa of Calcutta at their center in Granada, Nicaragua. The nuns did not have sufficient clean water availability to take care of the 65 day care children, 80 day students, and 30 boarding female students. This provided ample potable water not only for drinking but also for bathing and restroom facilities that are used at the center every day. |
